Anadarko’s continued global business approach has led to significant discoveries and developments throughout the African continent.
Anadarko is the largest foreign oil producer in Algeria, and its partnerships are currently producing oil from three mega projects located amongst the massive sand dunes of the Sahara Desert (Ourhoud, HBNS and El Merk) as part of a Production Sharing Agreement that was signed with Sonatrach in the late 1980s. In 2018, Anadarko celebrated 20 years of oil production in Algeria.
Anadarko’s relationship with Sonatrach dates back more than 25 years, and in 1998, Sonatrach and Anadarko formed a joint-operating association called Groupement Berkine.
Today, activities at Groupement Berkine facilities include operations, engineering, maintenance, logistics and health, safety and environment. The partnership has discovered more than 3 billion barrels of oil in Algeria.
“We have fully integrated teams between Sonatrach and Anadarko. What you can see is a very strong relationship to get projects done, to collaborate better and work together as teams with trust and honesty.”
